South Sulawesi Investment Forum offers 13 strategic investment projects
Makassar (ANTARA) - South Sulawesi Provincial Government and the Representative of Bank Indonesia for South Sulawesi Province initiated the South Sulawesi Investment Forum (SSIF), which offers 13 strategic projects to 95 domestic and foreign investors.
"Through this SSIF event, it is hoped that it will be able to drive investment, particularly downstream activities, thereby increasing added value and fostering sustainable economic growth in South Sulawesi," said the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for South Sulawesi, Causa Iman Karana, in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday.
He stated that the South Sulawesi Investment Forum event, which carries the theme "Reinforcing the Downstream Industry and Circular Economy Forum", was attended by heads of regions from 14 districts/cities who presented the potential of their respective areas.
According to him, the investment projects promoted at the SSIF event were obtained through the results of selection or curation activities conducted in the previous event, namely the South Sulawesi Investment Challenge (SSIC) 2023, which was held in July 2023.
"There are 5 outstanding IPROs (investment projects ready to offer) out of the 12 IPROs that pitched in front of the investors," he explained.
He stated that the outstanding projects are the Bantaeng Industrial Zone Development (BIZD), the Bone Cattle Farming Area, the Selayar MinapolitanArea, Seaweed Cultivation in Bone, and Fish Processing and Canning Industry in Sinjai.
He mentioned that the additional investment potential promoted at the SSIF amounts to IDR 95.52 trillion, derived from 13 strategic investment projects spread across 24 districts/cities in South Sulawesi.
So far, consistent investment promotion through the Pinisi Sultan Forum has successfully attracted investment interest worth IDR 7.22 trillion from a total of 9 investors in 2023.
Meanwhile, Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Bahtiar Baharuddin, expressed that in relation to the investment potential of South Sulawesi, it should also be supported by distribution channels that can reach international routes.
"The potential in the sea is there, our fisheries potential is very large, both inland and marine fisheries, so our investment potential primarily comes from the maritime sector, we have potential in the region," explained Bahtiar.
According to him, the abundant potential of South Sulawesi must be supported by good industrial facilities, especially in terms of shipping routes, if products from South Sulawesi are to be exported abroad or distributed domestically.
"On the aviation side, there is still potential for flights to be conducted. For example, in Bulukumba, there are many investment opportunities but there is no airport," he said.
Furthermore, he continued, the availability of electricity to support investment potential in South Sulawesi is another task at hand.
