Investment Paradise, South Sulawesi Chosen as the Center of Investment Exploration Coverage for 2023
Makassar, sulselprov.go.id – The province of South Sulawesi is renowned as an investment haven. Various advantages held by South Sulawesi are enticing to investors looking to expand their businesses in this region. This accomplishment is closely linked to the realization of investment in the province, which reached Rp 14,258 trillion in 2022, surpassing the target of the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for the year 2022, set at Rp 9 trillion. Meanwhile, the investment realization in the first quarter of 2023 reached Rp 3,045 trillion, marking an increase of Rp 901 billion compared to the same period last year.
This positive investment realization achievement has garnered the attention of the media, making South Sulawesi a focal point of coverage for Business Indonesia's exploration program. The official launch of the investment exploration team for South Sulawesi 2023 took place within the premises of the South Sulawesi Governor's Office. The event was presided over by Abdul Malik Faizal, the Expert Staff in the Governance division under the Legal sub-division, alongside Rheza Adrian, the General Manager of IMS Business Sulawesi, and Amri Nurahman, the Head of Business Indonesia's Makassar Representative Office.
According to Rheza Adrian, the General Manager of IMS Business Indonesia, the selection of South Sulawesi is not without reason, given the various potentials it possesses in sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and promising downstream industries, which are highly attractive to the investment world.
"South Sulawesi serves as the gateway to the eastern region of Indonesia, as you mentioned earlier, sir. You have conveyed how various economic and social activities are concentrated in this region. Therefore, we, from Business Indonesia, hold a special focus in the year 2023 on how we can contribute through the media to enhance investment in South Sulawesi," explained Rheza Adrian.
Meanwhile, the Expert Staff to the Governor in the Governance division, specifically under the Legal sub-division, Abdul Malik Faizal, appreciates this endeavor. He also expresses hope that this will have a positive impact on the overall economy in South Sulawesi.
"And our hope is that with the occurrence of this event, and hopefully its continuation next year, it can be truly leveraged by business entities that indeed possess export-worthy products, bridging the gap that arises from our deficiency in market intelligence – the challenge of finding markets. This media presence is of paramount importance to facilitate the connection between product owners and potential buyers. Business Indonesia's role is crucial, and undoubtedly, the governor is highly supportive of this initiative, especially considering its potential impact on our economic growth; this will, in turn, lead to increased employment opportunities," expressed Malik.
The Exploration Program itself has been carried out in South Sulawesi for the third time. In 2021, the exploration program centered around tourism, while in 2022, the focus shifted to infrastructure under the theme "Jelajah Mamminasata". Aligning with the increasingly favorable investment climate in South Sulawesi, for the year 2023, the chosen theme is "Investment Exploration in South Sulawesi".
This team will explore investments in several regions within South Sulawesi, and the outcomes are expected to contribute to the progress of South Sulawesi. (*)
