⁠Agricultural Waste-Based Bioethanol Industry

Bone Regency is one of the national strategic food estates, with the position of national corn production center and the biggest rice paddy producer in South Sulawesi. This abundant availability of agricultural materials provides a big opportunity for the development of local resource-based value-added industries.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the transition towards clean energy, Bone Regency Government initiated Bioethanol Industry Project which utilizes agricultural waste as the main raw material. This project transformed environmental challenges into a sustainable economic opportunity.

Aside from strengthen national energy resilience, this project also gives direct advantage for regional areas, by reducing the practice of incinerating agricultural waste, reducing carbon emission, and creating employment and partnerships with local farmers.
