Strong Economic Fundamental
Located at the center point of Indonesia, South Sulawesi has a strategic location as the gateway to Eastern Indonesia. Over the last 10 years, the economy of South Sulawesi has consistently grown above the national economic growth. The agricultural, manufacturing and trading sectors are the main pillars of South Sulawesi's economic growth.
Future Ready Infrastructure
South Sulawesi is also the center of land, sea and air connectivity for Eastern Indonesia. The development of connectivity infrastructure continues to be carried out to support the smooth running of economic activities. The construction of the Makassar - Parepare railway line, which is estimated to be completed in 2022, will integrate industrial areas, agricultural centers and tourist destinations in South Sulawesi. This will have an impact on travel time efficiency, energy consumption and logistics costs. In addition, South Sulawesi connectivity is also supported by the existance of Makassar New Port, which has direct access to other major Indonesian ports, such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang and has become a hub for Eastern Indonesia. MNP is designed as an international standard hub port with a bonded logistics center. MNP also has direct export facilities to several major countries in Asia. South Sulawesi connectivity is also supported by the existence of Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, which has been expanded the capacity to be able to accommodate 21 million passengers in 2024 and 40 million passengers in 2044. In addition to connectivity infrastructure, economic activities in South Sulawesi are also supported by abundant supply of energy. The electricity system in South Sulawesi is getting more reliable with an electricity surplus of 400 MW. Currently, electricity generated from New and Renewable Energy sources in South Sulawesi has reached 24% and is estimated to continue to increase.
Business Friendly Environtment
The Provincial Government of South Sulawesi provides various facilities in managing business licensing to make it faster, easier, and transparent. This convenience is provided through the implementation of a risk-based Online Single Submission (OSS), which makes the licensing process faster. In addition, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government has also issued Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2021 concerning the Provision of Incentives and/or Provision of Investment Facilities
